Today’s Writer’s Almanac poem made me smile, though I hate that I can’t remember whether the poem’s referencing an actual case-file from one of the books or not.

Merely pretty, she made up for it with vim.
And she got to say things like, “But, gosh,
what if these plans should fall into the wrong
hands?” and it was pretty clear she didn’t mean
plans for a party or a trip to the museum, but
something involving espionage and a Nazi or two.

In fact, the handsome exchange student turns
out to be a Fascist sympathizer. When he snatches
Nancy along with some blueprints, she knows he
has something more sinister in mind than kissing
her with his mouth open

    Garrison Keillor is great, what a lovely accent he has. The few times i’v heard his show on the radio, it always struck me as being smarter, wittier then anything else on radio or TV and for the whole family. (but not pandering either).

    there’s a guy on radio in ireland does a shoddy knock off of GK’s radio show concept, except instead of pretending to weave homespun wisdom for the 21st century it’s like he’s broadcasting from 1961-oh well makes me appreciate GK all the more for getting the formula right.
