And Then There Were Nine
The music lists still aren’t going well, and it’s really not helping that Music Junction at Parkway Parade is having a 3 for $10 sale which actually features decent albums. So I bought 9.
- Bjork: Vespertine
- Daft Punk: Discovery
- Ladytron: Light And Magic
- Mos Def and Talib Kweli: Black Star
- Bubba Sparxxx: Dark Days, Bright Nights
- Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach: Painted From Memory
- Philip Glass: Songs From The Trilogy
- The Essential Sibelius (2 CDs)
- Gabriel Fauré: Requiem / Cantique de Jean Racine / Messe Basse (Arte Nova recording)
Yay. :)
ugh! thats dirt cheap! lucky you.
That’s really cheap but I haven’t heard of most of the titles you list, hahaa.. Still, it’s a real good deal
They have mainstream stuff available too, Mr Dew!Bruce Springsteen, Dixie Chicks, lots of Santana, Deftones, Will Smith, Destiny’s Child (I think), movie soundtracks etc., and a fairly diverse selection of classical stuff ranging from Mozart to 20th century.
I think it’s definitely worth popping in if you live nearby and like music.
sounds worth popping by even if i don’t live nearby!! *scrabbles out bus guide*
still waiting for Food Junction at parkway to have the 10 for $3 yong tau foo deal. oh. that was so bad. seeya.
Finally!… I was wondering when you’d come around to Bjork. Vespertine is by far the best album. Sheesh(!)
I have Mos Def and Talib Kweli’s Black Star. Songs From The Trilogy is on my list of CDs to buy.
Hey, just because I’m willing to give Bjork another chance because I can get her album for a quid doesn’t mean I’ve “come round to Bjork”. I’ve always rather enjoyed not liking Bjork. It feels so contrarian.
Russ: Vespertine’s nice, but Post gets my vote for best Bjork album.
And Michelle, where’s your year end music list? Let’s see if I can beat you to it and post mine first.
Ooooh. Daft Punk! Guess there are advantages to living in the East after all. Who would’ve thought? :)

P.S. Happy New Year!
Hello. I’m heartened by your “Light and Magic” purchase, as I enjoy it, but have regarded it as a guilty secret since someone I vaguely knew (with great musical taste) described it as sounding like bad German electropop.
(You’ll probably now describe it likewise, once you’ve had a good listen. So please feel free to point and mock from now on, as this will be easier on my psyche).
Well John, I have a high tolerance for bad German products, as can be evidenced from my taste for Riesling. So I might just like Light And Magic more than you’d expect. (Haven’t listened to it much yet though, because out of the albums I bought the Mos Def/Talib Kweli and Philip Glass have monopolized my attention.)
